NEW DELHI: Delhi lieutenant governor VK Saxena has approved deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia\u2019s visit to the United States to attend an education convention in March, a senior Raj Niwas official said on Friday, underlining that Saxena signed off on the visit despite \u201ccontradictory statements\u201d on the foreign trip\u2019s funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
LG has agreed in principle for the proposed visit, but it will be subject to requisite clearances and completion of other formalities,\u201d a senior Raj Niwas official said on the proposal seeking the LG\u2019s approval for Sisodia\u2019s visit to the education convention in Portland city of Oregon along with his secretary and the education secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the proposal, Sisodia was scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the TESOL Education Convention on 23 March in Portland where he is expected to speak about \u201crestoring faith in the government school system\u201d. The convention will be held between 21 and 24 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was no immediate response to the development from Sisodia or the Delhi government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The approval comes against the backdrop of a bitter battle between Raj Niwas and the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi over Manish Sisodia\u2019s proposal to send a group of government school teachers to Finland for training.
