In the first Test against Sri Lanka, Cummins launched a massive six on Day 2, hitting the ball not just into the stands but out of the entire stadium. It was a slog sweep that the Australian Test skipper attempted on the bowling of Sri Lanka’s Jeffrey Vandersay.
Be it the timing or the execution, Cummins himself would’ve been surprised seeing how well he connected his bat with that ball. Even the commentators and fans couldn’t believe what they just saw. The video of the hit has since gone viral on social media:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As far as the match is concerned, the opening Test has seen quite a few dramatic scenes at the Galle. After Sri Lanka were bundled out for 212 on Day 1, the second day’s play saw a lengthy halt due to excessive rain at the venue. The entire first session was washed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the play resumed, Australia put up a fine show with the bat, with Usman Khawaja leading from the front with his 71 from 130. Khawaja was eventually dismissed by Vandersay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cameron Green also brilliantly contributed, scoring 77 off 109 while Alex Carey produced a quick-fire knock of 45 off 47.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By the times stumps were called on Day 2, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon were batting on 26 and 8 respectively. Cummins, in fact, has been in T20 cricket mood in this match. His 26 had come off just 16 balls, courtesy of 1 four and 3 sixes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
