Following a recent threat assessment, the security of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and poet Kumar Vishwas has been upgraded to ‘Y+’ category.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has provided him with security cover.
Vishwas was provided VIP security in February under the ‘Y’ category by the central government.
Following his statement that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wanted to become the Prime Minister of “Independent Khalistan”, Vishwas was provided security.
The former AAP leader had accused Kejriwal of having connections with separatists and their sympathisers in Punjab. The poet had also claimed that separatists used to visit the AAP national convenor during 2017 Punjab Assembly elections.
Reacting to Kumar’s allegations, the Delhi chief minister had laughed off, saying he is the “world’s sweetest terrorist” who provides hospitals, schools, electricity etc to people.
“This is comedy. If their allegations are to be believed, I am a big terrorist and if that is the case, what were security agencies doing in the last 10 years? I must thank the poet (Kumar Vishwas) for identifying me, I would be the world’s sweetest terrorist, a terrorist who provides schools, hospitals, electricity, roads, water…” Kejriwal had said reacting to his former party colleague’s allegations.
Ahead of 2022 Punjab elections, a video clip of Vishwas went viral showing in which he alleged that Kejriwal wanted to become either the chief minister of Punjab or prime minister of an Independent Khalistan without naming him.
The Election Commission had initially banned the circulation of the video clip, however, a day later, the poll panel lifted the ban.
